At the beginning of the First National Congress of the Bulgarian Association of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery with host Medical University – Pleven a pre-congress course for residents was held on 12 May by the World Team of the Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery in Telecommunication Endoscopic Center.
The theoretical part of the course consisted of lectures by the leading top surgeons Phillip Shadduck, Jay Redan, John Morrison, Richard Satava, Ian Hodgdon, Maurice Chung, Jessica Ybanez-Morano, Their Soares, Mireille Truong and Steve Minaglia. The practical hands-on session was organized on live tissue in the experimental operating room of the Telecommunication Center.
The Bulgarian Association of Minimally invasive and Robotic Surgery became an affiliated organization of the Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgeons creating opportunities for annual training courses for students and residents and academic exchange.
The leading American surgeons and partners of the University were very satisfied with their participation in the First National Congress of the Bulgarian Association of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery and their visit to Medical University – Pleven and Bulgaria.
